An aspiring MMA fighter says the Home Office prevented his new wife from seeing his family because she had “too much money in her bank account”.
Mixed martial arts starlet Muhammad Mokaev married Khava Eldarbekova in Turkey in September and the two lived together in Bahrain, where Muhammad trained and Khava lives and works as a doctor.
They had made plans for Khava to visit Muhammad’s father in the UK as he had not met them due to Covid restrictions.
However, the couple have been denied two visit visas, the last being a 13-day visa, which the Home Office refused because of the amount of money in Khava’s bank account that the Home Office cannot post, leading to the belief that she has plans Exceed reception.

A letter sent to Khava by the Home Office said that the £ 4,884 found in her bank account, which Ms. Eldarbekova did not “explain the source”, means that she “may have been inflated for the purpose of obtaining an entry permit”.
This is the second time Khava’s visa has been denied after the Interior Ministry rejected the first 30-day visa application back in February.
The couple decided to apply for a second much shorter stay visa, which Mohammed had to submit on the day of a fight.
“My father is 66, he is old and I want him to see my wife so he can be proud.” He said.
“Nothing illegal is going on, I’ve been in this country for 9 years and have never done anything illegal. They are basically saying that she can’t come to visit because she has too much money in her bank account.
“I just want her to visit my father and then we go back.
“I’ve had lawyers write to the Home Office and even the Prince of Bahrain wrote something to support my wife and they still refuse. It’s like they don’t want to understand people’s situation.”
Muhammad and Khava were married in September

Muhammad, a British wrestling champion who has won gold medals for Britain, told MEN he was confused about why it was so difficult to get a visiting visa for his wife.
He says he must now leave Khava, Bahrain, to travel to the UK directly through lawyers with the Home Office. Something that disrupts his training schedule and keeps him away from his wife.
“I may have to leave them here and speak to the Home Office now, but you never know what to expect from them.” He said.
“When I’m in the UK and she’s in Bahrain, I worry about her.
“She feels bad about it, I’m preparing for my next fight and she was through the camp with me.”
Mokaev, who lives in Salford, is originally from Dagestan and has received comparisons with UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The 20-year-old came to the country as a refugee eight years ago when his mother unfortunately passed away and he and he and his father had to flee Russia because of “political problems”.
After living in Livepool for a short time, Mokaev moved to Wigan where he fell in love with wrestling after his father got him to join the Wigan and Leigh Wrestling Club to save him from trouble.
Shortly thereafter, he moved to Salford, where he trained at the British Wrestling Academy.
A Home Office spokesman said:
“The decision to refuse entry to the UK is never taken lightly and only with full consideration of all the information presented to the Home Office at the time.
“Individuals must provide adequate documentation to comply with immigration law requirements.
“Every future visa application would be examined according to its individual merits.”
