The University of Salford’s Robotics Innovation Center has secured a £ 4m funding boost ahead of launch

Almost £ 4 million has been given to the University of Salford’s Robotics Innovation Center in the north of England to accelerate innovation and research in the industry.

Prior to the completion of the new center, which was announced last year and is part of the £ 2.5 billion Crescent Master Plan, 3.6 funding was received from Research England, part of UK Research and Innovation GBP million received for Research England Development (RED).

Dr. Georgina Harris, Director of Engineering at the University of Salford, said: “We are delighted to have received this research funding from Research England Development, which confirms our reputation for knowledge and expertise in robotics and automation.

“The award will help us recruit robotics specialists, invest in specialized facilities for the center, and allow us to play a central role in technology transfer from innovative research to industrial use.

The Robotics Innovation Center is partially funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Work on the new building was started by Morgan Sindall at the beginning of the year and is expected to be completed in summer 2022.
