A local man took on a cycling challenge to raise money for a mental health charity after seeing the effects of the pandemic on those around him.
Jared Berndt, a personal trainer and model from Salford, Greater Manchester, took up the fitness test where he burned 2,032 calories cycling in just over two hours to raise 2,032 pounds for Mind Salford.
The target calorie and donation target was based on the number of hours Mind Salford spent last year saving lives while under lockdown.
Jared accepted the challenge for his clients, friends, and family who have lived with mental health problems and are still here today thanks to charities like Mind.
Jared said, “I am delighted with the amount already raised and will continue to push for £ 2,032 to raise. This corresponds to the 2,032 hours Minds Hotline opened in Salford’s last year to support the local community.
“The goal was to burn 2,032 calories off the attack wheel in less than 2 hours and 32 minutes, and I beat it by 36 minutes.
“The calories were being counted on my fitness tracker, but I got so determined at the moment that I wanted to hit 2,032 calories on the machine as well, which took 3 hours and 51 minutes.”
