Salford’s website confirmed that the Betfred Super League duel will now start at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

This avoids a clash with the mid-season test on Friday between England and Combined Nations All Stars.

Five Rhinos players were selected for this game, along with two from Salford.

Super League clubs have the option to postpone a game if they have lost four or more players to international commitments.

Rhinos rugby director Kevin Sinfield confirmed today (Tuesday) that he is interested in the game taking place this weekend, but on Sunday, not Friday.

Both Rhinos and Salford have a game on Thursday next week, which is a quick turnaround.

Paul King, Director of Salford Red Devils, said: “We had a choice of three games over the next eight days or seven games in 28 days in August, which would have weighed on the squad way too much considering we already had one have been listing for quite a long time. “

Salford says tickets already purchased will remain valid for Sunday.

Anyone unable to attend on Sunday should contact the Salford ticket office for a refund.
