Bowmer & Kirkland has started development of a site called the Hanging Gardens of Salford for a 4,000 m² vertical foliage project. The structure on the A3 New Bailey property is part of Salford Central’s $ 1 billion master plan.
In addition to the Hanging Gardens of Salford Living Walls, the building will offer 115,000 square feet of office and retail space on the ground floor. The project is operated exclusively with renewable energies with passive house standard insulation. The building was also voted a pioneer in the London Energy Transformation Initiative, a campaign in the construction industry aimed at achieving zero carbon goals. The scheme was designed by Make Architects using the UK Green Building Council’s performance standards design.

Innovations with net zero carbon.
Planning permission for the Hanging Gardens of Salford project was granted in February this year. B + K has already built three buildings in the neighborhood and is currently developing a 10-story Four New Bailey as an office for BT.
