Sales of the Class 92 owned by Salford City have more than doubled

In Salford City, which according to newly filed accounts are owned by members of the so-called Class of 92, sales have more than doubled.

Documents filed with Companies House for Project 92 Ltd show that the League Two club’s revenue increased from £ 1.6million to £ 3.4million in the 12 months ended June 30, 2020.

The recently released accounts also show the club’s pre-tax losses increased slightly from £ 3.6m to £ 3.7m.

The club was taken over in 2014 by former Manchester United stars Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, and later David Beckham and Singaporean businessman Peter Lim.

Each of the members of the so-called ‘Class of’ 92 ‘owns 10% while Mr. Lim owns the rest.

In a statement signed by the board of directors, Gary Neville said: “2019-2020 was a momentous season for Salford City FC, for the sport in general and for the entire global community.

“The promotion to the EFL resulted in higher revenues through improved season ticket sales and tickets, as we would hope, but also an increase in operating and administrative costs as the pressure to cater for the second division in all areas of the club subsided .

“In addition to adding additional staff to handle the increased workload imposed by League Two, significant investments have been made in the Peninsula Stadium to ensure all safety measures are in place and the fan experience is maintained.”

The statement added, “In terms of KPIs against our business plan, the unprecedented circumstances of the global pandemic made the 19-20 season an anomaly in real terms.

“Moving up to the EFL had a significant impact on season ticket sales and entry ticket sales and these results were in line with our projections.

The club also confirmed that the training ground facilities are currently being reviewed and a decision will be made to either invest in them or move to a new location near the stadium.
