The incident was caused by an ammonia spill in the food production facility
The road closure was caused today by an ammonia spill in the Bidfood facility in Salford, a spokesman for the company has confirmed.
Martin Cook, Head of Bidfood, Manchester, said: “We alerted the police and fire departments this afternoon to a low ammonia spill in our Manchester depot and they responded immediately and quickly.
“We can confirm that there is no risk to the public or our employees, and our specialist engineers and operations teams for great construction sites have robust safety processes and systems that will ensure our operations get back to normal very quickly.
“The safety of our team and the public is our top priority. We would therefore like to express our thanks to our local emergency services and our teams for their quick response.”
