Parcel locker technology company InPost has announced a partnership with Salford City Council in Greater Manchester to install 65 new parcel lockers.
The parcel lockers are to be set up in the city’s public space by September. They will be located in community hotspots within Salford City Council’s real estate portfolio, including leisure centers, community centers, parking lots and libraries.
One of the benefits of installing in Salford community centers at the end of the national lockdown is that the InPost parcel lockers should help drive traffic to those locations. They will be accessible around the clock and make it easier for key workers and shift workers to access their parcels even during unsocial times.
Jason Tavaria, CEO of InPost UK, said: “Our partnership with Salford City Council is another major milestone in our introduction of lockers across the country and we are very proud to be working with a leading local authority in the North West. The lockers will help support the council’s sustainability goals by reducing last mile delivery in and around Salford and making package delivery and return more convenient and accessible for all of the county’s population. “
The first 40 lockers are expected to be installed in July 2021 and fully functional by August.
