Khan wins second professional match in Salford

A NEW professional boxer has achieved his second victory in the ring and is looking forward to a successful boxing career.

Abdul Khan from Bolton, Amir’s 19-year-old cousin, clinched a 40-35 point win in only his second professional match last Saturday at the AJ Bell in Salford.

The young boxer stayed cool and collected during his fight with Jake Pollard.

He said, “I’m really happy with my performance, I just put my head in the ring.

“I couldn’t have wished it would have gone better and I’m just so grateful that I can fight my second fight and show everyone what I can.

“It felt good to be there, especially after my first win in Dubai, and I have to thank everyone who helped me get here.

“My mom, my trainers, my gym, my friends and all of my loyal supporters that went into effect on Saturday.”

People flocked to the venue to see the seven scheduled bouts, with Abdul’s fight scheduled just after 8 p.m.

Friend and mentor Matt Bolton said, “I think he boxed very well for his second fight, he showed a lot of maturity and I’m proud of him.

“Abdul had a great night, he was calm and collected in the ring and he did what he had to do to take this win, he deserved it.

“I am sure that one day he will become world champion, he shows all the skills for it.

“For him, these are learning battles that he needs in order to gain experience. When I saw him, I congratulated him and said Well done, because even when the other guy walked up to him, Abdul didn’t sway a bit. ”

Abdul is now planning to rest a little before looking back for a fight at some point after the New Year.

The young Khan is making waves in the boxing world and has Amir’s support in his pocket.

Abdul’s mother Saira Khan was also present at the fight and saw her son in the ring for the first time.

He said: “My mom came for the first time too, I convinced her and she wants to support me in everything.

“I felt good to know that she was there because she does so much for me, I can’t thank her or ever repay her for everything she did for me in my life.”
