Guinness Developments plans to build a multi-story apartment complex after demolishing an existing 17-story high-rise apartment building on Kiwi Street.
Arcus submitted plans for the 8 acre Cherry Tree Court property after it was determined that the current building would not be suitable for creating decent quality, energy efficient housing. Salford City Council approved the demolition of the current skyscraper in December 2020.
The plans for the new building include 47 one-room and 14 two-room apartments on the site. Two of them would be wheelchair accessible on the ground floor. All 63 apartments would be intended for social housing.
According to the proposals, there would be parking spaces for 25 cars, including two disabled parking spaces. There would also be a bicycle cellar with 30 bicycles and charging points for three electric scooters.
The residents of the complex would have access to a communal garden at the rear.
The building itself would be eight stories on the side off Churchill Way. It would then go back to five stories and then to four stories as it got closer to the neighboring two story buildings.
Guinness Developments has secured funding for the Homes England project.
The project development team includes Survey Operations as a consultant for topographical surveys and Bagshaw as a consultant for ecology and biodiversity. Azymuth Acoustics provides noise assessment expertise, while GMP is responsible for explaining the impact of crime. TPS Consultants take care of the transport billing and the travel plan, while Reid Jones Partnership works out the sustainable drainage strategy. CC Geotechnical is the Phase 1 consultant for site surveys.
