Salford named best place in the UK for takeaways

Salford was named the UK’s best place for takeaways – with three other cities in the Greater Manchester area in the top 10.

Stockport came second in Green’s Cakes study, with Sale fifth and Oldham sixth.

The study looked at how many options residents of a particular area can enjoy around tea time on Just Eat – and then divided that number by the number of people in that location.

This resulted in a number of inhabitants per snack bar, with a lower value indicating more choice.

Salford only had 94 residents per option, while Stockport had 139.

Both Oldham and Sale had 192 people per takeout.

The city of Manchester was 33rd with 399 residents per option and Bolton was 69th with 567.

However, Mancs got one through Scousers as Liverpool was 95th with 848.

“It was a big surprise to see so many places in and around Greater Manchester that were top of the list,” said Neil Wright, a copywriter at Green’s.

“I’ve always suspected it was one of the best regions in the UK to order delicious and varied take-away and now there’s no doubt about it.”

The company added, “Fast, easy food is more popular than ever. In fact, it is estimated that around half of the average British meal is cooked outside the home. For example, through a meal in the restaurant, a quick meal, take-away – or with food delivered to the door.

“And because we’re a nation obsessed with ordering, we thought we’d check out the best places to live in the UK if you were looking for fine dining at home. And in the worst of places too – areas where you probably stick to the weekly grocery store for good reason. ”

The lowest city in the top 100 was Hull with 1,061 residents per option.
