A portfolio company of European medium-sized technology investor Tenzing, headquartered in Leeds, has acquired a Salford provider of education monitoring services.
ESafe Global works with primary, secondary and higher education institutions.
The Smoothwall acquisition is set to help both companies innovate and improve student safety, with the buyer already protecting more than five million children with its web filtering technology.
Smoothwall CEO Georg Ell said, “The acquisition comes at a crucial time as both UKSIC and Ofsted Abuse Review highlight the need for improved digital security at all levels.
“We thank all eSafe and Smoothwall customers for their continuous support and look forward to exciting times.”
Christian Hamilton, Founder and Co-Managing Director of Tenzing, added: “The acquisition of eSafe is an important step in education in the UK as protecting children online becomes increasingly important.
“This investment strengthens Smoothwall’s position in the rapidly growing surveillance market and expands the company’s offering to its loyal customer base in schools around the world.”
The acquisition of eSafe by Smoothwall is the portfolio company’s fifth add-on acquisition that Tenzing has supported in the past eight months.
Osborne Clarke served Tenzing’s Legal Department while Pannone worked with eSafe. Maven was also supported by Pannone and Grant Thornton.
